We're going to own Greenland it is a national security issue and Trump is right, Canada not so sure.DonMK wrote: ↑March 15th, 2025, 12:04 pmtacnet wrote: ↑March 14th, 2025, 9:48 pmIf Trump wants access to Greenland and Canada then he already has it. Greenland already has a huge US base there and they are willing to host more US forces if asked. Same thing with Canada. There is also Sweden, Finland and Norway which are all part of NATO.
The point is, Trump doesn't need to annex these countries in order to work with them. That's the whole point of having strong global allies like NATO. Simply trying to force them to give up their sovereignty will not work
It is probably his way of negotiating a better economic and military alliance with those countries, come out swinging and settle for a deal you want.
I think Trump wants Greenland and Canada to get more access to the Arctic

Unless he plans to take it by force and how is that going to look when he is trying to stop Putin from doing exactly the same in Ukraine ?

We need both to secure our country against illegal migrants and attacks by our enemies.

So if the UK says we need France to control the migrants coming across English channel in dinghies would be an equivalent argument?

Greenland's Pm got the hint that Trump is serious
" Greenland’s prime minister said a planned visit to the island by US officials, including second lady Usha Vance, is “highly aggressive,” plunging relations to a new low after President Donald Trump vowed to annex the autonomous Danish territory.
Vance, the wife of US Vice President JD Vance, will travel to Greenland this week to watch the island’s national dogsled race and “celebrate Greenlandic culture and unity,” according to a statement from the White House. National security adviser Mike Waltz is also expected to visit the territory this week, according to a source familiar with the trip.
Greenland Prime Minister Mute B. Egede called the US delegation’s trip to the island “highly aggressive” in an interview with Greenlandic newspaper Sermitsiaq on Sunday, and raised particular objection to Waltz’s visit."

You realize when US president Trump gets his mind on some thing he is going to do it, the simple way will be for Denmark to sell Greenland to him, otherwise I see other choices he might make that are not so nice.
