It's been months I have this excruciating pain in my right thumb and wrist area, I thought it might be carpal tunnel syndrome from using the mouse so many hours a day for so long,I visited a clinic they said to get corticosteroid injection and a thumb splint, if that doesn't help after a few times to get surgery. Has anyone here been though this and got any shots or the surgery?
Any causes of this condition, is it some chemical imbalance, age related or what?

How is the thumb splint and shot working out for you.
The splint is inconvenient I take it off,the injection was extremely painful , it's been 5 days the pain is well and truly diminished

The injections are not a permanent cure, when my friend had CTS he got it for a year then went in for surgery it got fixed for good, you might want to keep this in mind.
