Build sites that surfers will like and stay on your site for a while, and click on a few things, and come back.
Use social media when you can.
Use SE tools like Analytics/Google Search Console/Bing Webmaster Tools/etc
Trade backlinks with other similar sites, try to get your site linked in articles. If you can't find any to trade with, create your own. If you buy backlinks, make sure SEs won't know that they're paid.
Funneling can be important.
Always do AB testing and scale up what works.

Ive been in this game for 20 years now and the one thing Ive found that had the biggest impact on SEO traffic (excluding off site stuff like getting back links etc) is SEO friendly URLs

Getting keywords into your URLs carries much more weight with google than your headings or alt tags etc

So in our case we would turn a url like this :-

https://www.tacamateurs.com/cgi-bin/hub9/hub9-site_page.pl?website=melody&updateid=39914&template=update

into a keyword rich URL like this

https://www.tacamateurs.com/sites/Melody/melodys-lesbo-fun-with-linda-pt2/39914/

There's loads of WP plugins that can do this or you can learn to do it yourself with just a few lines of code in your htaccess file. Just google "htaccess mod_rewrite"

We use SEO friendly URLs for all our affiliate content which means its much easier for the affiliate to get their gallery or video page ranked in google

I tried one a few months ago it messed up the forum we had to put use the latest database backup from the night before. I'll see what else there is out there.

Im surprised it messed with your database. It shouldn't touch the database at all. All it should do is give you the option to re-format your links using the topic titles

I dont know this software but there might even be an option in the admin area to do it.

Once you can re-format your links, i can probably give you the codes to put in your htaccess file to make it work.

It really shouldnt be more than check a box or two, update your htaccess file and your away
