[BUSINESS] what is a host
how do you define a host, one who owns their data center, one who has their own servers, one who has a team of support staff, or a guy working from home reselling accounts for a host, there are so many so called hosts I am trying to move to one which has good hardware , manages it well and has real good support. So what is your understanding of a "HOST?"

If the server runs right you do not need much tech time, the last time I opened a tech ticket was in May this year. I do everything myself through Cpanel and WHC controls.

Good support can never be under estimated, in any business and especially with your host when you are having server difficulties.

As long as what is promised is delivered who cares ?
The problem is when hosts overpromise.

Right on and what got me mad last year in December on the 9th when I switched hosts, I signed a 1 year contract for 2 boxes, $285 total per month, in the fine print it said price increases up to 5% may be added during the contract. December 25th I had an email to tell me the price in January would be $305, it is not that $20 a month will kill me but that is not right them not posting or telling new clients that the price is going to increase in a couple of weeks after they start with them.

Well you fucked up there never sign a contract where prices can go up during it unless your fine with it going up , I had my colo provider try that shit on me told them I am leaving and poof the price increase disappeared lol my contract auto renews but they can only jack my rates at the renewal and they try to every year or 2
Most decent hosts don’t raise prices randomly like that.
