I have been saying this for the longest time, why is prostitution which according to some book is the oldest profession in the world illegal in so many jurisdictions. Guess what anyone who works is selling their time we are all prostitutes in our own way; some use their head for example an accountant, others their body for example a firefighter. If an adult wants to have consensual sex with another adult ( the 2 key words I stress are both parties are adults and it is consensual) then why should religion or a law stop them if it involves a consideration aka money.

You stop stigmatizing prostitution and make it legal, crime will go down, black mail will go down, violence against sex workers and the clients will go down, everyone wins.
