Is it right or legal to send you an email after you click "Unsubscribe?"

One user clicked on my site to unsubscribe and the script emailed them back they were unsubscribed, now they contacted me through my site that it is illegal to email them after they unsubscribe. What is your opinion, I can have the script modified to not confirm their unsubscribe request I guess.

Just have them unsubscribed and do not bother emailing them back the confirmation, change or modify your script.

I'm okay with mail when I join a site or okay them to send me, what i hate is spam from sites or people I never wanted to be contacted by.

There's no law preventing you emailing someone, even if they have unsubscribed from your list

Its just not good practise as they could report you to the various spam filters out there and you can end up getting your domain blacklisted. You can check if your blacklisted at https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx

A confirmation email that they have unsubscribed is perfectly ok in my opinion

I run into a a lot of spam mail where they either do not have a link to be taken off their list or the link asks you to register and unsubscribe once logged in.

I have seen that on occasions and it is wrong.

It's the law you must have an unsubscribe link on mailers.
