I am looking at a script and it has the option to use GZip compression. Is it a good idea to use GZip compression or not?

No do not use it, it puts more stress on the server and viewers CPU,

All in the name of saving disk space, not worth it, upgrade to a larger hard disk.

It is an option in phpBB but I would not recommend it, as noted previously it can slow down the load times and if you have a fair size hard disk which this server does, it really does not benefit anybody to use it.

I have heard of Gzip never knew what it was, well I do now, and no see no reason to use it.
