even after you delete it off the server, it was my understanding that they do keep a copy, but mine said they don;t , was only asking because I needed some files I deleted 2 months ago.

They would need huge storage devices to store all client pages especially if they are a large hosting company, and how long would they keep it for.....

Maybe try archive.org
If the host kept copies of everything uploaded, a host that I'm working with right now would be hating me with space and little changes lol.
At most, maybe a host will keep logs of files uploaded, but that won't help you if you're trying to get deleted files back. Either need a backup, maybe Archive, and if not they're probably gone.

What concerned me one time I moved hosts is if the host i left would try get a hold of my emails and spam them, but it was 3 years ago and I never had that problem, they were one shit company, half the time my server was down and they kept blaming my scripts yeh right my scripts not their terrible techs.

They wouldnt do this without you paying for it. We pay a lot of money to have our servers backed up constantly

Disk space and privacy would both be a problem for them if they did and used the data.

yes but you can not recover your mysql databases, it is not a free back up solution, only for html pages.
