Just a random tip: If you have competition that uses Bitly links, you can see stats on that shortlink by just putting a + at the end of the url, then it opens up the stats page.
But, I think stats are only good for 30 days on there, but still good info sometimes.

Here's my beef with these when they go out of business or close your account or their servers go down you are fuckeeeed

You know if you're running a wordpress you could just install the "redirection" plugin and use it as a shortener. It won't give you detailed stats but does give you the hit count, is organized, easy to manage, handles 404. Handy little plugin.
