Sometimes life just sucks
I seen the lung doc today. He thinks I'm a good candidate for transplant surgery and he's putting in a referral to the transplant team for me. Since you'll have to be within 2-3 years of kicking the bucket to rate a referral, I guess my days a numbered. Not really news to me, I kind of suspected that for some time now. But fuck... it's depressing when someone else rubs it in your face.

That is a bummer
But you know, I have a friend who had a lung transplant nearly 10 years ago and they are still going strong. You'll be amazed what they can do these days

Yeah, that would be the silver lining. It would be nice to get some version of a normal life back and be around another decade or so. That is if I'm approved and stick around long enough to score a match.
Being in the US that'll make me a million dollar woman thanks to our expensive health care costs here. Thank God I served in the military and receive my care from the Veteran Administration. Otherwise I would be screwed all around.

Think positive Heidi I know it a cliche and easy to say but keep thinking that way. My aunt had bypass at 57 she would still be with us today at 78 had it not been for the virus. She died last October. Why I am telling you this is because they gave her 5 to 10 years at the time they recommended the bypass. She lived 20 years.

Stay positive and don't think about it too much and just live the life that you want. I was told that I didn't have long to live before, but 10 years later I'm still alive and feel like I'm still in my early 20s.

My aunt had a liver transplant in 2009 when she was 64 and she is fine ever since, you can do this if it is what the doctors advise.
Keep the faith and live to the fullest, we all have our own health issues we have to deal with.
Good luck

Did you know this was coming one day or was it out the blue, from your one post you said you had copd if I am not mistaken and that breathing was an issue.

The kicking the bucket wasn't out of the blue. I didn't really expect to be around past 60. The referral to the transplant team for assessment for a double lung transplant did come as a surprise. Was totally unexpected. I pretty much had made my peace with it all coming to an end soon. So now I guess there's some hope and I'll see how the eval goes and if I make the list. My doc thinks I'm a good candidate since I'm still young enough and have no other defects. I quit smoking last September, so I'm good on that. I will have to retire my vapes (starting Monday I think). That will suck.Ricks-Cams wrote: ↑August 3rd, 2021, 6:22 pmHeidiHoe wrote: ↑August 2nd, 2021, 6:59 pmI seen the lung doc today.
