Believe me your current layout has quite a few things that are negatively impacting your SEO and browseability. The changes im suggesting are all things that would improve it

To be honest, i doubt google would rank your current index at all and i think its loosing you a lot of new users. It almost lost me, its only because i knew there was a forum here somewhere that i persisted. Sorry if that sounds a bit brutal but my guess is that most NEW users who hit that index page will close it without clicking anything (and that again has a negative impact on your SEO)

but its your site so you do whatever you like. I just think you have a huge potential here and with a few changes you could be earning a lot of money from this. Over the years we have paid to sponsor lots of webmaster forums including this one, gfy, xbiz, web central etc etc so we know how much money you can earn from this kind of site

But as i said, entirely up to you

I dont think you need to delete those categories as all the sections already appear on the forum index index.php?

I have to say, the one thing that made the biggest difference to us is learning htaccess mod_rewrite to rewrite all our URLs. Its not just about getting keywords into your urls, you can restructure your entire site and get a real deep crawl from google. We use it on our affiliate gallery links, for example so now our affiliates can get their versions of our galleries ranked with google.
