10 years should be enough time to deter people doing illegal activities.

I hate it when they bury unrelated crap in legislation. There were screams to pass line item veto legislation way back in the Clinton days. I haven't heard much about it in recent years. All the elected officials were vocal about the need for it publicly while never intending to actually make it happen since they all like to bury their pork. Fuckers...

Bills get so many unrelated provisions added on to them, that is a sad fact of politics.

Content theft has always been a downside to making money, it s good to hear there will be severe punishments for it.

How often do criminals get the maximum sentence, think about that.

Often. mostly the poor people!!
How long do they stay the max? dunno, but not often. The guy we got in my house got 4 years and was in less than a year. Had he been caught in my house where I live and not my house were I store shit (separate buildings) He would have gotten 15 years as it would have been his 3rd offense. he was 23 at the time and already convicted twice of HOME burglary, did jail time and had time to go do it more, and did not learn his lesson? (not my only experience, just the most recent.)

Jail is not working...
