Yep lots of sites I used to trade with on Tripod and Geocities. The good old days.

Yep lots of sites I used to trade with on Tripod and Geocities. The good old days.
Servers were expensive and everyone used free hosts. The internet was so much different than now. I missed out on the days where posting a ref link on a Yahoo group would buy me a car, though. I was busy learning hard things that didn't make much money like writing applets and Flash.. :(

My first server was a Spark10 that cost $1800 a month, but as you said Colmike news group postings made sales and money.

Yeah in the late 90s/early 00s when I looked at server prices for the first time, I think the cheapest one I saw was about $300/month.
