All I got to say is you have to redirect domains you own to your sites, not just let them park at the registrar. especially if it was used before you bought it, there will be traffic from it.

Hi good Saturday march 1st peoples. Have a question. I am losing a lot of traffic off a domain that I am redirecting directly to another site through Godaddy. There are hundreds of pages indexed, but they are not forwarding. How do you forward a domain so all the links out there get to redirect to the new site.

I know this is a bit late.
You setup 301 redirects for each of the pages to their new pages. or you lose most of their juice.
There are other methods using Godaddy and I know them as I am a Godaddy super duper reseller.

If you are done, sorry did not see the thread until now (obviously) hope you did it the best way..

I'm confused, you have to write a 301 code for every url?

you do not HAVE to

you do need a line for every page that has a NEW PAGE.

I use search console to see which pages have search volume and I do those pages for sure.

There are other tricks, but nothing works as good as one page 301 to the correct new page.

you can 301 the domain, but then you will lose most of the juice.

I do this for my clients every time I build a new site for them. When I take over a joomla site for example. I list all the pages on the current site in a spreadsheet. they either have or I create a sitemap and create the list from there.
then have the client match them to the new pages on the development server. same process of providing the list of pages.

they match them up. cut and past.

then I run a macro to change the two matching columns into a 301 redirect.

The pages without matching pages are then 301ed to the closest page, but never the front page except as a last resort.. use a search query instead if possible to create pages that might be more relevant.

all good things have to come to an end eventually.
with that in mind, all bad things need to come to an end too, eg the coronavirus pandemic.

I have tried this a few times and in the end the sales were not happening so I built blogs, and with the blogs those expired domains I had bought made me sales.

I have a much better, yet time consuming and technical response to this. However, this is actually what I get paid big bucks to teach.
Normally I would just type the answer out, but with the HOAX around Sars-COV-2, I have more important things to type about.
Both my Adult and NON-Adult businesses are exploding. Even my wife comes in to help now!!!!!

It is really sad that so many of you did NOT take time to partner with me in some fashion, previously.

Redirects are good, but when you buy a domain, just redirecting it to your affiliate site is NOT good enough. Short term it can be great, glad to see you doing at least that.
Time and all I understand. I have 200 domains doing almost nothing, just bought one and still nothing on it. due to time constraints. I understand this.

If you buy a domain that has traffic, let me know and I will tell YOU what you need to do, to increase the from short term to long term profits.
