Just never add the lat over ads even if you have a million hits a day. No one approves of those. Including myself.
Some people can be Dumb and Dumber

All good pointers for newbies.

I see this every day and not sure what people are thinking. Your goal (well my goal anyways) is to grow the site, I hate having to close these silly ads all over the place when visiting a site, and if it pisses me off and I am in the business, guess what it does to some casual surfer.
The other thing, do NOT disable the back button on the browser. Lastly these dam browser locking scripts. I have run into these quite a few times over the past month and it is not nice, it is not right and illegal in some jurisdiction.
The ones where they claim you need to pay for the browser to be released or you were at a porn site and need to pay to delete the information are definitely illegal.
End of rant.

When I get asked how many banners on a page is right, i reply 2 max 3, some new sites put 5 or 6 banners on the site, that is excessive.

Depends on the size of or the definition of a page!
Many of you people should not be consultants.
Questions are answered so often without enough details to answer them wisely.
This is why there are laws against giving legal advice without a license.
This is why there (skip ahead cause this would be a long list.)
This is why there are licenses for so many professions, too many people sharing opinions instead of fact.
Too many people not know the difference.
I prefer one add per page. A page being the viewable area above the fold on desktop or table (landscape)
A page on mobile is completely different than a page on desktop (for this example)
Which phone is it? What is the resolution? What is the content?
Thumb galleries can have an ad every third thumb or fifth thumb.
swipe style pages, every third or fifth?
getting my point yet?
the answer is it depends on ... give me more details so I can answer the question properly. There is no one shoe fits everyone and some people have to buy two pairs because their feet are different sizes...

You learn with time that the sales you hope to make with exit and popunder traffic is not really there unless you are a mega tube site, and all you are doing is annoying your users,

probably pop-ads must come up ONLY when you reach a decent number of daily users BUT sounds nice to have these ads only for un-registered users, so without the need to pay for something, the registered users can use the website without the annoying stuff, plus they exchange their emails in that method

Newbies look at a site copy what they do, problem for them is they look at the tubes and think they are in the same traffic rank as say Pornhub. So they add a popunder the minute they build their site. A popunder on a site with leas than 100,000 hits a day is waste of time and pointless.
