Not to put too fine a point on this, I am scared of hitting 50. Every one over 50 seems to be coming down with some disease in my extended family.

Hitting 50 is nothing to be worried about. Not hitting 50 is.

Actually I have heard and not sure if it is true or just an old wives tale that, if you do not have a heart attack prior to 50 and do have one after that age the chances are less it'll kill you with the first one.

Makes sense to me. If you're over 50 you're probably more likely to think heart attack and get your butt to the hospital. Under 50 you might write the symptoms off as indigestion, the flu, etc and simply tip over. That happend to my bff at age 44. He thought it was the flu bug and he was dead before he hit the floor.TheButcher wrote: ↑January 11th, 2020, 6:38 pmActually I have heard and not sure if it is true or just an old wives tale that, if you do not have a heart attack prior to 50 and do have one after that age the chances are less it'll kill you with the first one.

Sorry about your bff , what you said makes sense. Plus if you haven't already by 50 or so you start taking your health more seriously (cough cough me for example)HeidiHoe wrote: ↑January 11th, 2020, 6:44 pm

My dad takes 81mg of asprin a day , hi doctor gave it after his first heart attack at only 46. I am hoping my genes are more from my mothers side. His father, my grand dad died of a heart attack when he was only 63.

He's on his laptop, smiling drinking coffee and wondering if it's indigestion or a heart attack, good one.

A clean quick heart attack is the best way to go. The other way is months or years in bed with tubes and life support keeping you hanging on to life like a useless vegetable.

Best idea is enjoy life while you can, never say I will do this or that later. Later may never happen.

60 is not old, I keep telling myself this. When you no longer desire or enjoy sex you are old, this is my way of thinking.

My uncle has Alzheimers and now he does not recognize any of us, he's only 79, his son had to put him in a home over Christmas because he would wander off and not know how to get home, he fell down just before Christmas broke his shoulder. Alzheimers is a sad disease. The guy was a semi-pro athlete in his day.
