Right now you need a lot of expensive hardware for it to work, tho. Like, the backend and servers/GPUs, not just the VR headsets for the viewer.

Absolutely it is not just the cost of the headsets that is a hurdle.

The best GPUs needed for VR live streaming are about $5000 each and I think would be able to handle about 8 viewers at a time per card. Give it a few years.

My brother bought it for me since a bundle was on sale Friday for $200.

WankzVR is the best I've seen so far, btw.
You have to be picky and look at some samples if you're going to buy, though. Some VR is just huge 360 videos and doesn't exactly look real. Then the good ones use stereoscopic 3d I think and definitely feel like you're there. ;)
