[TECH] I hate updating my Apple Laptop and Iphone

#1

Post by TheButcher » October 8th, 2019, 10:25 am

Was debating if this was a technical or rant question, went with TECH.

Every time I update the IOS on my MacBook Air or Iphone something goes wrong. yes i keep up with the updates for security and functionality but it just annoys ,e

Last night my laptop did an automatic update of the IOS to macOS Catalina, now there is a notification of an upcoming update for one of the applications I have, I click "update" and the shit won't do it. Any one now what the deal is how you can either update the silly thing or have the notification in the Dock go away. I hate notifications to just sit there.

Maybe it was a rant after all

Peace

Updates are a must one time my battery drained on my phone when doing an update, shit went all wrong, I had to take it in to Apple to get it fixed.

Catalina doesn't support 32 bit apps, just a guess. Click Apple > About this Mac > System Report > then click Applications under Software to check.
Or try logging out and back into iCloud.

This is what I see in "Software" and a bunch of other stuff on top of that screen. No clue what it means to be honest.

In System Report, there should be a list of things on the left:
Software v
Applications

Then that will bring up a list of apps and there is a field to see if it's 64 bit or not. If not, it most likely won't work on Catalina or requires an update or installing the newer 64-bit version.

Do you get an error at all when trying to run updates, or does it keep prompting for login info, or nothing at all?

I'll check, the updates seem to have gone through this morning when I woke up, it must have run something over night, I don't always turn off the laptop at night.

Hi Butcher how do you like the Mac over a regular laptop, and why did you go with a Mac. I am thinking of buying a new laptop and asking.

MY hubby is a Mac user for the longest time and he would not change back to a pc for anything. I on the other hand am a Windows girl and happy using what I know.
