Let's see here, what is your most popular Wordpress theme?
Not any one in particular I just go with the latest theme that comes with the WP download.

Being green in all this I go with the default theme the WP has to offer on installation.

You really need to try Themify Ultra.

themify.domainsecure.com

The functionality of this theme allows you to build much better mobile, tablet and desktop versions of your site.
The base theme speed is as good or better than most other themes.

You can have a free trial of the theme included with the free trial of the my hosting.

PM me for details.

I activated a premium tube theme on one of my sites and all of a sudden ad-block zapped ads it didn't zap on any other site. When I checked source code I saw the morons named a class "sidebar-ads". I thought about fixing it but I already done a couple fixes in a child theme so I replaced the damn thing instead. I'm just glad I caught it early and didn't pay for the theme. Won it in a Twitter contest. Who the fuck does themes for compensation and uses "ads" in anything nowadays? I plan on scanning the demo source code on any themes before I use them from now on.
This was a paid theme?

Just because a theme or script is not free does not automatically make it superior to a free one, look at WordPress it's free but a hell of a good script.

There are so many good tried and tested free themes why do you have to pay for an unknown theme.

Yeah but that is like saying cause my fat girlfriend cooks and cleans and gives good  then we should test out all fat girls.
Wordpress used wrong is bad. Wordpress has a reputation of cooking and cleaning and everything butt anal.
Wordpress comes with community support, which is mostly bad.
Wordpress free themes are not very good for the below average user.
Wordpress out of the box with no plugins, with no community support is almost worthless.

Everything and everyone that comes with Wordpress is what makes it a great script. You can get a plugin that cooks organic food on a schedule and charges your friends to eath
You can get a plugin that does automatic backups before doing automatic updates. You can even get a plugin that is a security system.
You can get a butt plugin that does anal!

You can not trust a free theme to do anything and most likely it does not even do what it needs to do as a theme.

Is your theme built to create your site to qualify as a mobile first site?
I bet your free theme is just the old version of a responsive theme and not a true mobile theme.

I also bet most of you do not know the difference.

It takes time and imagination plus kill to develop a theme, why any designer gives their work away for free is a question I can not answer.

Have any of you checked out Astra? I been looking at the free version and it looks pretty good. It's fast out of the box. I just switched adultswag.com over to it which was slower than molasses with the theme I had it on.

I've been looking at creating a child for it to expand it out. Adding CPTs to add a tube and a pin section while leaving the basic blog posts intact. It's slow going, learning to do new stuff. I usually just doctor them up in a child but this one is different, getting into the customizer etc.

So much has changed how things are done. How does anyone keep up with crap?

Fast out of the box, but how does it work on mobile devices. You still using old responsive designed themes? forcing the desktop version into a tiny little mobile device?
