What do you find works best for initial and renewed sales on membership sites, what are your thoughts on 1, 3 , 6 and 12 month pricing?

Depends on the site and the amount of content. Anywhere between $12.95 to $29.95 and percentage reduction for longer signups. 3 months = 10%, 6 months = 20%, 12 months = 40%, or something like that. You could also set a monthly one time rate a few bucks higher for those that want to join without auto re-bill. I wouldn't do trial unless content is severely restricted.

the longer the initial they by the greater the risks of a charge back from my experience.

I pay whatever price I can afford when buying some thing. For example last weekend I could have bought myself a desk and chair for $300 but I opted for the one I thought would serve me better and paid $870 for them. If the site offers what the member is looking for they will pay.

Price is always an issue in every transaction if you ask me, don;t over inflate it you'll have repeat business.

Price makes a difference in decision making

around $20 a month works best, no one cares about the cost of paid porn a that level, you start going to $30 or $40 a month they have second thoughts when they see their credit card statement.

It was $19.99 a month for the longest time then they bumped it to $24.99 then $29.99, I still think $19.99 is best.
