If only I knew how that thing ranks my sites, I now what people have said but it still seems a mystery to me.
I have at least two long posts explaining Alexa here on sponsorchat.

In short the Alexa algorithm GUESS at the rank. So stop worring about Alexa it sucks.
It is also a ranking. Like a marathon. the leader board stays about the same, but the heard continually jockeys for position.

Never once has the Alexa report and the traffic to my site NUDE.com been remotely similar to my actual server stats. Hell Google Analytics is not accurate.

Currently (last time I looked) Alexa stated the majority of my traffic is from the Ukraine when in fact it is from China. I receive WAY more traffic than Alexa has ever stated.
I have way more backlinks than Alexa states, etc etc.

Hope this helps people stop wasting their time with Alexa. It is a scam.

Alexa is never going to be an accurate reflection of your stats because it doesnt use on-page counters like google

However, it IS a goood indicator and is based on your last 3 months traffic. You'll find that the more traffic you have, the more stable your rank is. Sites with a high alexa ranking (ie low traffic) will find their rank jumps about

This is because of the so called "Long Tail" effect. https://support.alexa.com/hc/en-us/arti ... lexa-Rank-

Once you get into the top 50k or so, its much more accurate and stable

You need to move on thinking about Alexa numbers, look at your sales numbers instead

Some weeks my best ranked site is at 820K then it will go to 2 million and another week or two be at 1.4 million and all that time my traffic is even and my sales are even. What is this ?
I have one site at 213K that makes me $70 a month ad I have one at 538K that makes me $200 a month, both gay sites. Go figure this out.

Alexa is not about YOUR traffic.
It is the relationship of YOUR traffic to all the other sites' traffic.

This has always been the case with me , not a clue why it fluctuates so much.

not sure why so many people have no clue.

The explanation has been written by me several times in the forum and approved by several people. Are you reading the thread or just replying to the title?

I just searched for my posts on this subject. I guess that my big long one might have been on the old forum.
so here are some excerpts for you people that don't read much.

First off all Alexa is guessing at your traffic, for the most part.

Second it is a ranking system, similar to a physical straight line race. The site in the lead is number one. DUH!
The other sites are ranked by their current assumed traffic in relation to the number one position.
Thus if another sites starts receiving more traffic than the sites in front of them or another sites stop receiving as much traffic as the sites behind them their their rank will change accordingly.

One reason to use Alexa is to gauge where you are in relation to other sites in your category.
Then you can go see what they are doing to increase their traffic.

Use it as a gauge to see where you might be at a given time in relation to other sites.

Again the Alexa algorithm is mostly a big guess using math and estimates.

I checked 5 adult sites I visit and 4 have been going up since May, only the one is down. Thinking out loud, cold it be Google listing more adult sites?
