You have $5 per month and are NOT just starting out.. so why would you go with a free host?
I know why, maybe you want to test the services of the company offering free hosting before you upgrade to a paid plan? Hmm, that is what I am offering duh!
That is the point of most free hosts. Try us out then upgrade to a real plan, you cheap bastards. (attempt at humor)
The issues is most people want FREE to be a race car when it is meant to be a beat up taxi until you can afford to pay for a real taxi, while you save up for a race car.

Not using a free host myself but a few of my friends use mainstream hosts that are free for their personal sites, there is a market for free hosting.

Dont be cheap, but be frugal.
If you can use a free service and start your business and then expand into a paid service, this is by far the best way to go.
For all you people that had issues and bad experiences with FREE hosting, I assure you I can point out how the bad experience was YOUR fault.
Free services are not meant to be permanent. For the person offering (most of the time) is a way to allow you to test the service before upgrading to a paid service. For the person using the free service it is a way to test a service to verify that it will work for their needs before upgrading to a paid service.
The issues start when the free service provider does not incentivize the upgrade from free to paid and when the service user (YOU) does not have their shit together and upgrade on their own.
My free service is built to allow you to test the almost full functionality of my hosting.
Feel the speed, test out support, build the site, etc. Then upgrade to a full paid hosting plan.
If you are not happy or too cheap for the full paid hosting plan, WP sites can be moved in about 5 minutes to new hosting providers. Many of them will move the site for you. There are free plugins that will do it.
If you know cpanel then you know how easy it is.
For those of you that lost your site due to free hosting closing.
One, you and others you were most likely abusing the free service, thus they were not making money and closed or just kicked your cheap ass off.
Two, backup your website and copy the files to your computer. Go do it now if you have not done this in the past 30 days. EVERY time I perform an update to my sites I create backups. Monthly I do FULL cpanel backups. I use managewp.com's free backup service. I use updraftplus backup plugin. I backup my backups.
I have NEVER lost a site, even when hosting companies have gone out of business. Which I have experienced several times in my almost 25 years in this business.
This is why I know so much about hosting. Did I mention I owned and operated a hosting company for almost ten years where I was the head admin of the servers?
I pay others to admin the servers now.

If you want very affordable adult cPanel hosting that offers free daily backups, free ssl, excellent support etc check out Ethernet Servers. Shared cPanel starts out at $2.95 per month. Fully managed cPanel/WHM SSD VPS starts at $24.95 per month. I moved some of my sites on to a vps there and I'm a happy camper.

Free is never free in the long run, it applies to everything not just hosting.
