I honestly cant see how this is ever going to happen !!
There is simply no way for youtube, twitter or any other social media site to be able to check if content posted to them is copyrighted or not. Its simply not possible.
Seems to me like yet another case of politicians trying to legislate the internet without having a clue how it actually works

It is totally possible, not sure why you think it is not possible.tacnet wrote: ↑July 6th, 2019, 9:59 pmI honestly cant see how this is ever going to happen !!

Maybe you are not old enough or experienced enough to remember the times back when all content was verified before uploaded to sites like YouTube and Facebook, etc. Several of those site still exist and their software functions great. This software does not allow for a free for all, so I am not surprised few know about it.
YouTube was not the first site like YoutTube, they were the first to allow stolen content to be uploaded and get away with it. YouTube started the free for all on uploading anyone's content and uploading anything and everything. No matter how crappy or professional or false or true.
Do your research and you will find they were behind the law that exempted them from the copyright laws in the first place.

Ok if its a Paul Mcartney song or whatever then thats obviously a copyright issue and they should take it down but for the vast majority of content, the tube owners simply wont have a clue. How would they unless someone sends them a DMCA ???gotonudecom wrote: ↑July 7th, 2019, 6:12 am

Quoting from the x-biz page referred to in this post https://www.xbiz.com/features/243878/re ... -directive
I know years ago there was software that produced a checksum for each image or video and then went looking for those files on the internet to see if they were copyrighted. But even if it finds it, that doesnt necessarly mean its in breach of copyright. Not with the way we share stuff all over the place nowadaysLarge tube style websites are seriously concerned because they aren’t even sure how they are expected to identify and remove copyrighted content in accordance with the Directive. Many are arguing that the Directive will force platforms to develop and implement software that would screen/review content before it is uploaded to begin with. This type of software would be incredibly difficult and expensive to create and platforms are already questioning whether it’s even technically feasible
Plus Producers want to maximise profits so they will often sell their content over and over again. Which means the exact same files used by us for example may be being used by 3 or 4 other sites aswell. All with the exact same checksum files and all with the necessary paperwork to use the content
You cant expect Tube or Social Media sites to get bogged down in the legalities of who owns the copyright of each and every piece of content submitted to them.
Another quote from the same page
The only logical way I can see of doing this is if you get a DMCA, then take it down. Exactly as we do nowThe Directive was fiercely contested by some of the biggest tech companies in the world, including Google, who argued that the new rules would be catastrophic for Europe’s creative and digital economies. Twitter is also concerned about the potential impact on the “open, creative and conversational nature of the internet.

It's not the law yet. It's still on the drawing board, right? The safe solution would be not to allow user uploaded content on your site. Own the copyright to your content or use sponsor provided content.
Few things in this business are 100% safe. There's bound to be a law somewhere affecting you that you can run afoul of. Just weigh the risks and rewards and go with it. No worry... be happy

I see the problem has two major issues.
One the big boys want people uploading crap content as much as possible as quick as possible with NO oversight so they can monetize the content.
People want to be able to steal content and be able to monetize it.
Slowing down the addition of content to sites like YT is not an issue. So what if instead of a click and publish now button turns into a click to submit for review button. The videos/images are check by software then quality checked by a real person. For those of you to say that that will cause sites to need to hire more employees. Well I think Google can afford it AND there is a solution that does not require employees.
A user based system could solve the problem. As a content generating user grows in authority ranking. Meaning they have 100% success rate of uploading only their own content, then they can bypass the majority of the process. The same with the quality assurance people. Maybe only 2 with 100% accuracy need to okay content for it to be published.
So what if it takes a day to or an hour to have new content published. the quality of the content might go up.

Can you imagine what would happen if everybody in Europe had to wait up to a day to get their tweets, facebook posts, instagram pics etc approved ??? Even our governments use twitter to share information. Are they going to have to wait up to a day to have their posts approved ??gotonudecom wrote: ↑July 13th, 2019, 6:34 amSo what if it takes a day to or an hour to have new content published. the quality of the content might go up.

YES, if it is accurate and truthful information that they own. I will wait.tacnet wrote: ↑July 13th, 2019, 9:14 amCan you imagine what would happen if everybody in Europe had to wait up to a day to get their tweets, facebook posts, instagram pics etc approved ??? this is NOT ABOUT TWEETS, FACEBOOK, OR INSTAGRAM PAY ATTENTION.
This is about STOLEN CONTENT.
Are they going after TEXT, well not at this point. They are going after people that are stealing. Just now they are going after the websites that are profiting from people stealing.
Obviously YOU are not aware of the censorship already going on with these site that YOU mentioned. Some how they can censor for their political gain but can not censor stolen content>
You really think that the laws will affect the government posting. sssheeessh really!
You think our race is so stupid that we can not figure out a process to allow legal content meaning not stolen to be uploaded instantaneously.
I think you missed the point of this thread even though the title is VERY misleading.
This is great news for user uploaded content, if you own the content, if you own the site.
Now new content will have more importance and stolen content will be removed.
I hate to say this but it reads like many of you are in favor of stealing content and publishing it for your own profit or just not capable of realizing the great potential these changes/new laws have for all of us.
These sites have been given permission for the past 20 plus years to violate laws that have been on the books for over a hundred years. It is about time these giants start obeying the laws like the rest of us are forced to do.

I have waited days to be approved on forums. Then you have to prove that you are you before you can post at all. Then you have to reply to posts so many times before you can start a thread. ETC. Of course this was back in the day when you did not worry about spammers and trolls and dumb asses sharing their reactionary opinions and under informed opinions.
Then I became a free for all and brought the Internet down to the average persons mental level.
