My first blog was free hosted and when they closed I was in dire straits. Never again will I use a free host.

Why put in time and effort to build a site and relinquish control to someone else? If you don't want to invest money in your business are you really treating it as a business or is it more of a hobby? Just skip Starbucks one time and pay for some cheap ass shared hosting! GoDaddy does adult and starts at what... less than $10 per month? Okay... skip your coffee twice ;)

Anyone can slap up a WP multi-site and offer free hosting within minutes. They also can close it up without notice as soon as you are finally done building your site and have spent hours getting it just the way you want it, getting it listed and promoting it.

I just find it hard to believe that so many of you don't backup your website!
If a host goes down, click click you upload your site to a new host and you lose NOTHING!

HeidiHoe and others might not have done that. Thus a bad experience for them when their sites went down. This does not mean that free hosting is bad or a waste of time.
If you don't have $6 for my hosting, then free is a good thing.
YourBusinessNeedsA.com

Get the basic WP hosting and try it out.
or try out one of my free development servers.

Backups are only part of it. Unless you can use your own domain on the free host you're still screwed. I haven't even looked for free hosting since the year 2000 so I'm far from current on what's available. Back in the day free also meant it was on a sub-domain. A domain you had no control over. Why promote someone else's crap? Spend 6 bucks and do your own thing. Freebies are fine to use to test things on, as feeders, things a little on the shady side, for stuff you care little about. I wouldn't use it for things that matter to me.

LOL, I am sorry I thought everyone in here was smart enough to use their own domain unless there was other features involved.

Subdomains are not crap, all the time. If you know what you are doing and it is a good program, they can have great benefit. Which is why I have not launched mine subdomains services on NUDE.com to the public.
Now I understand why you ignored my attempt to give you a subdomain. That is what a couple years of links from NUDE.com to where ever you want for free that you did not put to use. Now I understand.

For those that say they don't have time. It is a simple task to copy a page or a post from one WP dashboard to another.
For those of you that say 'duplicate content', you should learn what duplicate content is and how to deal with it.

And you get a permanent link from NUDE.com to your subdomain, which you can do anything legal you want on the subdomain.
Once you want to host it somewhere yourself, just give me the DNS settings you want and 24 hours to turn them on.

LOL! I know I should just launch the damn thing already.

You people that don't like subdomains, can miss out.
The link from NUDE.com is worth the yearly fee for the subdomain.

and love you Heidi.

Actually that was over 3 years ago. I haven't really cammed in 3 years and back then you were thinking of doing a cam setup with a maitre d feature. Time flies when you're having fun!

You make it sound so simple, when obviously there is more to it than what YOU think.

Free hosts have their place. Especially for your first blog.

I have been offering free hosting for over 20 years. so you negative people obviously are not as knowledgeable as you think when it comes to free hosting.

You have run the same free host for 20 years?

I would not call it "the same". Some version of free hosting has been part of my business plan. NEVER have I turned someone's FREE site off.
However, the goal of offering a free hosting solution, at least for me, is to get someone started and help them grow.
Some people don't have a way to pay for a $5 per month hosting plan. They just don't. I was there once myself. Then someone gave me an opportunity, from that opportunity I became, well ME. Now I am passing along the love.

Currently I offer a development wordpress install hosted on my wpengine account, which I have maintained for almost 3 years now. One of my ecommerce sites pays for the service. Since that one site continues to grow, then I see no issues that would cause me to turn it off.

If you want a place to start a new WordPress site, that is super fast and reliable, I have it for you. Most of you can not afford or do not see the value of paying wpengine $30 per month for hosting. That is okay. I can help you move the site to a $5 host, that I operate, once you are ready to go live.

DomainSecure.com is my retail site. If you want a discount, PM me and I will send you a link.

For under $60 per year I can set you up with your own whitelabel site just like DomainSecure.com. The services includes are worth about $300 per year.

At some point I am going to convince theButcher to sign up and start selling domains and hosting.
