I feel like I'm in hell this week
I went to see the dentist Monday morning. I had a tooth giving me issues. I've been dealing with ongoing bone loss since my 20's but I didn't really see what happened on Monday coming. I should have, the writing has been on the wall for years. I had a bunch of restorative work done 3 years ago by a different dentist and I figured I was in for more of the same. Boy was I wrong. My jaw about hit the floor when he recommended pulling all my teeth and making full dentures that day. I sucked it up, popped a Xanax and left there with a new temporary set of teeth. I'm getting the final set by end of year after everything is healed up. I paid for the cadillac version while still in a state of shock. Now I'm relearning to talk right, eat right, etc. My face still feels like it's in a vice grip damn near making me regret turning down the pain killer script and popping motrin instead. Getting old can really suck but still beats the alternative. This too shall pass and my teeth haven't looked this nice in ages! And yeah... they're mine... I paid for 'em

I feel for you Heidi, I have always had bad teeth and would rather get a colonoscopy or prostate exam than visit my dentist. I always have a problem when I go to him. Nothing sees t stay okay on each 6 month visit. It always ends up involving the darn drill. And when he says "This won't hurt" I want to tell him where to shove his drill but always shut up figuring it would hurt more pissing him off. Take care of yourself.

As I have always said, teeth are a pain in the mouth, they give us trouble the first time they pop their face out the gum, they go bad, they fall out and we have the cycle repeat with the permanent teeth. If only there was a 3rd set after 50 years old. I guess there is and I'll be getting them sooner or later, they are called dentures.

Yeah dentures... I'm relearning how to eat. It's different trying to chew with dentures. It takes the joy out of eating, and I love to eat! What I absolutely won't miss is toothaches and I've put up with my share of toothaches over the years due to my irrational phobia of dentists. It takes a lot of guts for me to just walk into the dentist's office. That's one of the reasons I went ahead and let him do all of the work on Monday. Now if I can only manage to extract my face from that damn vice grip! I have 2 wisdoms out, 1 cap from an accident I had in high school not seeing the punch come in, but I had punched him good before he threw that one, and 7 filled teeth. I have dental insurance but it isn't worth shit.

No dental coverage here and the shit ain't cheap. My face isn't the only thing hurting, my bank account took a hell of a blow as well. Dental insurance is damn near worthless anyways unless it's employer paid. Expenses are fairly predictable and the insurance companies have no problem ensuring maximum profitability by using % based on procedure and annual maximum caps.

I know HeidiHoe, soem times I believe dentists here in LA make more than doctors. When I had the root canal he gave me Vicodin. That Vicodin is good shit. Hope you feel way better soon.

I turned the vicodin down opting to just pop motrin and deal with the discomfort instead. I tend to get side effects on meds and i didn't want to add more problems. The pain will pass and hopefully in a few more days I'll quit whining about it and stop moping around.

What scares me about dentures is they might fall out when you cough or throw up.Are they tight in the mouth?

HehiHoe I have a partial and I got used to it after a few weeks, you'll get used to dentures, it's way nicer than having tooth ache. When I am alone at home I don;t even use it, when my hubby or anyone is home or I go out the house of course I have it in place. Best of luck. I think we're both close in age and this is what happens when we get older, our teeth pack it in.

Christ... I knew this was coming. I'm surprised it took that long. Lolfantastico wrote: ↑March 10th, 2018, 12:59 pmJust think of the pleasure you can give your man without teeth.

It's been so long I'll take a bj with or without teeth from the dragon lol. It's a one way street here, she likes oral but has lost interest in giving it back, go figure.

My father got a full set of dentures and it cost him $2700 and he had dental coverage from his work. Dentures are not cheap.
