[BUSINESS] UK Age Verification delayed again
Looks like the UK Age Verification thing has been delayed (probably indefinitely) https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... definitely
Thanks to everybody who offered to help us with the development but obviously the need is no longer there at the moment

Let them first elect a new leaderfor the Conservative party who will be the next PM and sort out Brexit then worry about things that are not important to the country as a while.

A delay gives websites more time to comply but it is not for ever one day this will come into affect.

Not that I am for this but how hard is it to implement it after all this time they have been talking and planning for it.

After the recent news I have this feeling they will never get to implement this.

Im not so sure about this.
From the people I have spoken to, there seems to be a vast majority of US, Canadian, Far Eastern websites that dont give a damn about the UK and our quaint laws. They either dont do enough business in the UK or simply dont want to slow down their servers with GeoIP checking for every hit just to see if its from the UK or not. Infact I spoke to one of the biggest adult hosts (not mentioning any names) and out of several thousand adult clients, only 4 were actually bothering to do anything about this
So if there's 10s of thousands of websites our there that simply dont care and are not compliant, what can the UK government do ? they cant withdraw their credit card facilities as these are all done outside the UK so their only option is to block them (if they dont block them then whats the point ???)
Not only is there the logistical nightmare of having to monitor, identify and block so many websites, I should think that ANY government that tries to sensor the internet in this way will very quickly loose a lot of votes
There's only one way to stop kids looking at our content and thats parental controls. Pure and simple
