It does seem as bad news on first read
I completely disagree, please tell me how it is bad news.

If you are currently stealing content and uploading it, then sure bad news for the thieves among us.
MOPE I never steal content I have thousands of dollars in paid content, my point was it will stifle legitimate user uploaded content to tubes and other sites.

it won't stifle legitimate user uploads

but it will stifle illegitimate user uploads

hence, no more "deep throat" full movies or "devil in miss jones" full movies or "adventures of alladin" full movies or "sisters" full movies on the tubes

just large sponsored clips on the large tubes

and smaller sponsored clips on the small tubes

Initially I agree with your assessment. These new laws will stifle legitimate user uploaded content to the big tubes, but not to smaller owner operated tubes.

I believe, in the long run, people will get back to searching OTHER sites more and visiting other sites more. Not hanging out in these big tubes looking for stolen videos.
This is good for those, like you, that purchase content and even better for those that create content.

This will empower content providers, over time, as the stolen uploaded content on these big tubes slows to a halt. (I can only hope.)

Individuals will be empowered to build their own sites and rely less on giant Corporate pigs. They will worry less about their content being stolen.
People will learn to look past Google and big tubes for the easy answer. An answer that is often wrong anyway.

Ever wonder why you don't see illegal Walt Disney movies on YouTube? Cause they have the money to poke Google in they eye. Google does not dare mess with them. Thus no Disney movies on YouTube. (if you see one let me know.)

Small content creators can not do this to Google. They have to go through a long process to have their content removed. By then the damage is done. People that would have bought the video or paid to watch have already seen it. Loss of profit for lots of people. Bonus for the website that allowed illegal sharing.

Sharing that was made legal when and how? Do you know?

Remember Metallica and their hunt for pirates of their music in the 90s? I was part of that team hunting down these pirates. Many people said it hurt Metallic sales. When in fact all it hurt was the people stealing Metallica's music. Metallic started the hunt when their sales dropped, during the hunt their sales stopped falling.

What is the difference between YouTube and Napster?

Ninth Circuit Court, an injunction was issued on March 5, 2001 ordering Napster to prevent the trading of copyrighted music on its network.

Was this a war on copyright infringement or a war on file sharing technology? or both?

Why after that was Google, YouTube and so many other sites allowed to do the same thing?

In the long run this will be great for content providers. Maybe content providers will have to wait 24-48 hours for their content to be approved before becoming public. No harm in that.

:!:  One of the best things that can happen to reduce illegal use of content. You do realize that some tubes pretend the content is user uploaded but it it is them or their employees uploading illegal content.

If tubes disappeared, that traffic would just be redistributed or possibly more pageviews in general because of surfers looking around more like the good old pre-tube days.. :p

First do you know what a dork is? and you still use the word. Go Google it, so you can pretend you know what it means.
Whale penis! The SLANG is much different.

Second that is such noob talk. Kill 50% of the adult traffic. Seriously? DOH!

One of the main reasons you should not insult people online is the first thing that insulting someone does it tell people what level YOU are on at the time of making the statement. Assuming you might be having a bad moment, day, week, month, year, or life. Believe me I know. I still make the same mistake, just not as often as I used to.

TAdult traffic will only ever increase unless they start putting people to death for searching for it.

Your traffic might decline if you turn off your tube site, but someone else's will just increase.

you can not stop the signal

This conversation/thread was started with a misguided title.
No way is this bad news for uploaded content. It is bad news for STOLEN uploaded content.

The thread title should be updated.

Only thieves are against this. Are you a thief?

Surely this is un-enforcable ???

How the hell is any tube/social media site (adult or not) supposed to identify copyrighted material without first being notified that its copyrighted ????
