weddings are turning into a joke

Post by TheButcher » March 30th, 2019, 1:11 pm

In my day we got toasters, pots, pans and crap for wedding gifts. But we never invited our families and friends expecting a Ferrari. Times changed and then it was a wedding registry at some snooty high end department store. Then things evolved I guess and it was "cash in place of gifts."

We got an invitation delivered 2 months ago to save July 30th for a wedding, I never got this "save the day shit" why not just send the fucking invitation card save yourselves the time and money printing the card and postage.

So yesterday the actual invitation came, no surprise July 30th, who would have guessed, the 2nd cousin of the dragon has finally found a sucker to get hitched up with. I think I have seen her 3 times if that in 30 years. And to top it off, I have never seen this one, "gifts of $200 and more per person would be appreciated."

Are you serious, you are actually putting an entry price for people attending your wedding? This is plain silly and rude. If you want your family or friends to share your wedding day, which is what we wanted, keep it polite and easy, I can live with the "Cash instead of gifts" but a ticket price is dumb.

Not going because I have to take my 2 older kids and blowing $800 to stand outside a church and smoke, while they do their song and dance inside. I don't go to church period. Funerals and weddings I am outside smoking every time. Secondly we are not close so why bother. Even the dragon says no because she thinks it is outrageous how they put that in the card. As some here know I don't believe in the tooth fairy nor the guy in the clouds who people call god. And if I wanted to see men in robes and fancy jewelry I would go watch cross dressing porn.

Hell I told her I have a great idea, let's get re-married after 30 years, throw a big bash at some restaurant , say $40 a head for the meal, invite everyone on our mailing lists and people we just know, make a business out of it, she laughed. But honestly to put a suggested dollar number in an invitation is tacky rude and as I said a lot of people will just not go for that reason.

Marriage is not for me every one I know has ended up in a divorce. Some a lot richer than me and some a lot smarter than me, so why go there.

For my 2nd wedding we went to the registry office, married with my husband's son standing next to us and our best man and his wife. Then we went to an Italian restaurant here 9 of our friends joined us. That was it. We went on our honey moon 2months later.
From Malta with love and sunshine

My father-in-law's funeral was so much he would have had a heart attack and died instantly if he was alive and knew what it cost lol.
His wallet had to be surgically removed from his trouser pocket because it had not seen daylight for centuries. The guy was the definition of a tight wad.

It's all show, you do not need to spend so much to get married or bury a loved one. Just because you spend a lot does not make the marriage any stronger and better, nor does it make the dead come back to life if you over spend on their funeral.
