Battery backup for your desktop. Who has one and what is it?

I woke up this morning, clicked the power button to wake up my hibernating computer. The normal sounds occurred and then some strange beeps and it shut down, powered off, lost my hibernation.
Someone (a dumb ass) had plugged the printer into the batter portion of my backup and it ( I assume) overwhelmed my UPS.

I did a few searches and found a few internal UPS, that snap inside the computer.
Of course I have several of those shoe box sized UPS scattered around and one plugged into this computer.

Is there software that helps restore after a crash like this?
I have no idea what projects I had open and will never know at this point.

I believe I am going to invest in an internal UPS and upgrade my external UPS.
Double the protection.

Thoughts?

p.s. the dumb ass was ME! not sure what I was thinking or not thinking.

Will it start up now when you plug it in, and if so how far in the boot up process does it get.

It is fine now, that it has power again.

I just lost all my open projects.

The good part is it works, the lost data I have no idea if you can recover it if it was not saved.

it might have been saved, I just don't remember what I was doing to open it back up.
Now I have to search my logs to see who and what I was working on, so minutes maybe hours lost.

Laptops have batteries, so no battery back up required. Needed? sure.

Surge protection is a must

I have a mini one plug surge protector I carry with my laptop. And I did use its predecessor, my it rest in pieces all charged and smelly.

I have no battery back up because I am using my laptop, I have not owned a desk top in years.
