[BUSINESS] moving hosts

#1

Post by Avin » January 22nd, 2019, 11:20 am

The decision had to be made to move to a reliable host and I have signed up for a server. They do not offer the moving part for free. So my question to you is, what is the easiest way to move my sites, thank you.

You are already moving to a lousy host, think twice.

Not all hosts move for free, most will if you ask.

Lets talk and maybe I can help you out. PM me.

Just because a host will move for free, does not mean they are qualified to move the site at all.

I will never pay a fee to a host to just copy my sites over, that is a ridiculous waste of money.

This depends on your site.

I deal with several sites that have over a million a year in sales. They pay me to move their site. It is not free and I won't do it for free.

Free is for tiny making no money sites, very low income sites, new sites, tiny sites.etc.. Even sites with no particular unique functionality like blogs, etc.
Sites that can be down for a few minutes and it not cost the site owner thousands of $$$s in lost revenue, these sites can be moved for free. Especially if the site owner is going to verify that the site really moved 100%.
Real money making sites should never be moved for free. Money making sites need professionals to move them, verify they work, update the DNS or any other technicalities that need to be verified still work after the move or that are a main part of the move.

The last few times I tried a move with a free services the move went to shit. Data was corrupt on one. Images missing on another. SSL did not work another time. Shopping cart stopped working once. I do most of my moves myself, then it is my fault when they don't work.

These free services mainly click a few buttons to copy the site and then just hope that it works. cpanel to cpanel moves. wordpress moves. etc.
The people clicking the button, unfortunately, commonly have less training in moving a site than many of you have. They just have a set of cookie cutter steps to follow and hopefully it all works out. If not, sorry we will try again.

I don't eat free food either.

I would consider a freebie from a high priced escort!! Maybe! But only is I was REALLY attracted to her.

Other than that Free is not always what you need.

I am not a glass half empty or glass half full person, I am a "are there free refills?" person.

with that,
I have some free development wordpress hosting available. Before you build your next wordpress site, at least take a look at my FREE offer.

I have been at 5 hosts and none of them ever asked me to pay to move and get my sites working. They seem a cheap ass operation if ya ask me. Glad it worked out for you in the end.

You should run away from any host who wants to charge you to setup your sites. It already spells trouble.

Don't listen to JJJ.

It depends on your site and the income potential to be lost during your down time of the move and other factors.

You want your site setup correctly and completely? Then hire someone. You want some minimum wage (for tech support) person moving your site? Then let them do it for free.

I already answered this once in this thread. Read the entire thread.
