Why do you need a counter on a site, even tubes with millions of visitors a month never use a counter.

Counters were in circa 20 years ago, not today. phpjunkyard.com still offers a few free counter scripts that are easy to use, no mySQL required uses txt file as database. Also, there used to be a freebie script that let you set a starting count and would add a predefined number of hits to the count with every actual hit. I can't remember who offered it or where to find it if it's even still available. Counters might be a cute addition to a more personal amateurish site
