Coder gurus I need some TradeExpert help please

Hi guys

I have TradeExpert working fine, but I can't get the toplist to work on the board pages.
To keep this short The board is phpbb with a footer.html page where I want to add the thing.

The script help page says

How to include toplist into your web page

After you have created and added a toplist, it has to be included into your web page:

PHP (.php pages)

<?php
include "toplist.html";
?>

SSI (.shtml pages)

<!--#include virtual="toplist.html" -->

Neither brings it up, I have the correct path to the toplist, I have it working on https://www.sponsorchat.com/referrers.php
There is an index.php page on the board script, but god knows where to add it, every place I tried the board went blank lol.
I am thinking maybe the .shtml option since the pages are .html but that didn't work either.


Any ideas please.

This is a pure guess. I know zero about codes. What if you rename the footer to footer.shtml and use use the

Add :
<!--#echo var="DATE_LOCAL" -->
to the shtml file and let me know if it shows the date or not.

According to them, if it doesn't show the date, then SSIs aren't working and the host needs to enable it for the topbar to work.

Yes sir on https://www.sponsorchat.com/referrers.php the code they give works, that's because I named that page .php

Ah gotcha. Could you try <!--#echo var="DATE_LOCAL" --> on the .shtml page instead of <!--#include virtual="toplist.html" --> then? :p

If it doesn't show the date, then you need it to be able to parse shtml into SSI. You could either ask your host to do it, or just add this to your .htaccess:

AddType text/html .shtml
AddHandler server-parsed .shtml
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Includes
AddHandler server-parsed .html .htm

colmike there is no shtml pages on the phpbb script for the board, it pulls index.php but there are a bunch of html components like header, footer.....

I want to add it to the footer.html

Please tell me what to add to that page so it shows up.

And what else to change on htaccess if anything

I might want to re-read this when I'm sober tomorrow, it's Friday lol :p Not sure why I was thinking you wanted it on a .shtml page...
But, in that case I would think that <?php include "toplist.html"; ?> would work in footer.html if the index.php pulls from those. Also, maybe check to be sure that you aren't nesting any <?php ?>'s like:
<?php
stuff;
<?php include "toplist.html"; ?>
more stuff;
?>

and if so do this instead:
<?php
stuff;
include "toplist.html";
more stuff;
?>

Could I see footer.html? If the <?php tags are nested, that will break the page like you described.

It's a php file and you're trying to include it into a php page?
<?php include "server/path/to/file.php"; ?>
Use the absolute or the relative server path to file. Don't use the URL. .htaccess should be good as is if you use php. You should be able to include any php or txt file providing it's on the same server. SSI isn't used much anymore and you probably do need to turn it on to use it. Either have host do it, use your cPanel, or edit your .htaccess file with the code colmike7 gave you.

I haven't seen SSI used in ages. It went out of vogue along with perl... another dinasour.

Well, that's what I was thinking at first and got confused, but in this case he's trying to add the include to a .html file used by a .php index and nothing to do with shtml or SSI I think.. That's all, and when he inserts the php code the site breaks. So, now my guess is that the php code isn't being inserted right and is causing the page to break.
