Things online picked up once win95 was released. It was mainly images back then. Optimized images and graphics were often cut into segments and then placed on the pages in tables to help with load speed. AVS sites were popular back in the late 90s early 2000s. You could put up 20 pics and charge a membership fee. Free places were a nightmare of popups and a lot of tour pages had genitals and nipples blured out.

I remember the 1st pics i saw online were in 1992 on a frieds PC. So it started back then but it took until win95 brought more people online. Whitehouse . com was around mid 90s. I heard of them in 96 or 97.

HeidiHoe, you know when I pretty much gave up on Windows, Windows XP Home Edition, I never really liked the later editions to be honest.
I remember the WH . com site well, obviously they were a head of the time and picked a great domain, but eventually threw in the towel for good reasons.
