I don't see the problem, his friends could be gay and he goes to gay bars. You are not going to turn gay if you frequent a gay establishment.
I happen to have gay friends they never hit on me, I am not into them, we are friends with different tastes in people obviously. I like women they like men. But we are friends and do go out for drinks or a coffee. Actually we go out in couples, me the wife another friend and his wife, a few have same sex partners, but that is called friends , not everything has to be sexual in life.
