At the very minimum 90 days, but 180 would be better for the affiliates.

They do not, but if the cookie is expired then they can make in house sales and not pay a split

I am fine with 0 day cookies, the odds are if they want to sign up to a site they will in a few days after they visit it.

Sponsors can change the cookie length on he fly, be warned I have experienced this many a time.
