Make sure that it's completely dry before using it. It might take time to notice water damage and it's not as bad as a phone, but when water evaporates it causes corrosion, and that's what kills devices.

you lucky man, definitely give it some time to dry though maybe take the back panels off and the battery, remove your HDD or SDD which ever it is you have give the soda a place to escape from.

My friend once got water on her laptop someone told her to put the laptop in rice for a day. Not sure if that is the right thing to do bt with water it will evaporate. Sot drinks might become sticky inside.

No, that's a myth. Things will dry out faster without rice. I'm not sure if it helps with corrosion, though, because of lack of oxygen flow.

Someone at some college somewhere probably did an experiment with that with public data, but finding it is the annoying part. :p

I never put any drinks on the desk where I work, I have a small table next to me where I keep rinks, I have done that myself years ago and cried when I had to go buy a new laptop.

Thanks heidihoe, was not smart of me or easy to go spend another $750 on a laptop at the time, so I took precautions.
