Doesn't surprise me. Religion is faith based. Not fact based. I think it's a tale spun and passed down over many years. You need faith to believe because the so called facts can't be proven. Over the years archaeologists, historians, etc have produced some physical evidence to support some of what's in the bible, however that doesn't mean the whole tale is true. It's just bits and pieces that where woven in to the fabric of the story.

You can believe in facts but you have to pay attention to the analysis behind it establishing the facts and the interpretation of said facts. Facts are used to support false narratives all the time.

I've read the bible in my youth. It was taught in school were I grew up. I can not cite chapter and verse, but somewhere in the old testament didn't one of the men go out and find a wife somewhere? Where did she come from? lol

I do have a theory on all this. Here it goes....
The story was started in a small community. Why was it started? Who knows. Perhaps to satisfy the desire to feel superior to other creatures or to exert some type of control over other members of the community. Everyone outside the community might as well not exist as far as the community goes. They are there, but not part of the story. So in the story, as far as the community is concerned, they are the only people on earth. The story gets passed down over generations and like every other story that passes down by word of mouth it morphs until it's written down.

One of the reasons the Bible is factually incorrect and non-fiction, in my opinion is that it was written by people a long time after what supposedly transpired. The story got passed form one generation to another and I will admit I am an atheist not because of this fact. Most of the things the book talks about can not be proven in a scientific manner. This is when I stopped believing in the whole story line.
