If this is the last we hear of Trump wanting to take Greenland it's fine by me, we do not need another war.

This deal is exactly the same as the 1952 deal that America already had. The only difference is that he has added the bit that bars Russia, China and non-NATO countries from establishing military bases on the island
Well Denmark is a part of NATO so there is no way they were going to allow Russia or China to establish military bases there in any case.
Basically, Trump has backed down and he's trying to dress it up as a win

So it is good he got what he already had and a little more with no war. He could have asked for a lot more and ended up in a war hon. Let it be.tacnet wrote: ↑September 21st, 2026, 1:06 pmThis deal is exactly the same as the 1952 deal that America already had. Yes he got what he wanted but he lost so much more. As far as the rest of NATO is concerned, this was the issue that broke the camels back. Several European nations have pulled out of major military deals with the US after this (we don't want to buy F35s from the USA if we think Trump will with hold software updates because of a tweet) and none of the NATO members agreed to support Trump in Iranjag wrote: ↑September 22nd, 2026, 6:36 amSo it is good he got what he already had and a little more with no war. Right now, America is weaker than it has ever been. It's stuck in a war it can't get out of, it's stockpiles are practically empty and they have ZERO allies around the world.
If I was president Xi, I would think this would be the perfect time to make a move on Taiwan

Yes but the number of nukes a country has is pretty much irrelevant these days. Russia has the most but whether you have 100 or 1,000 nukes doesn't really make any difference. What you need are allies and that's where NATO came in. We could handle Trump bad mouthing NATO, cutting off support for Ukraine and pushing Europe to pay more of its fair share but when he threatened to invade another NATO member, that's when the buck stopped.cimage wrote: ↑September 24th, 2026, 8:18 pmtacnet wrote: ↑September 24th, 2026, 8:15 pmYes he got what he wanted but he lost so much more. Now Trump has NO allies he can count on while Russia, China, Iran and North Korea are drawing ever closer together
