Safety legislation and fuel economy mandates are to blame

Cars have become slaves of legislation and economy numbers, not about making beautiful cars people drool over.

My girlfriend has a black on black Mini Cooper S and it's quite a lot of fun, I drive it once in a while and it's great for finding tight parking spaces and quite a nice handler.

My GF just put down $5K on a 2026 i4 eDrive 40, it's a 3 year lease for $500 and taxes a month. It was that or a Tesla and she went for the BMW.

I am no fan of the new 5 series, it is too heavy in my book, I would get a 2024 M5 any day, looking for one now.
