Going online in Malta is going to require a EUDI Wallet identity soon.

"The Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) has announced the issuing of a call for tenders for the implementation of Malta’s European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet. It said this is an important milestone in the country’s digital transformation journey and in the implementation of the European Digital Identity Framework.

"Through this project, Malta is taking the next step towards introducing a secure and trusted digital identity solution that will enable users to access services more easily while giving them greater control over how and with whom they share their information," the authority said.

Maltese citizens and residents will be able to use the EUDI Wallet to securely identify themselves online and in person, verify their age when required, store important documents such as driving licences, and electronically sign documents. The Wallet will be usable both in Malta and across the European Union.

The Minister for the Economy, Technology and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, said this initiative reflected Malta's commitment to embracing innovative technologies that enhanced everyday experiences and strengthened Malta’s position as a digitally advanced nation.”

The call for tenders is open through the Government’s electronic Public Procurement System (ePPS) until Thursday 3rd September."

It seems more and more countries are implementing KYC requirements for internet use, not a good trend.

Do people realize how their freedoms and rights are slowly being taken away from them?
