I owe my buddies a round of beer tonight, I was 100% sure Morocco would lose to Canada. How the hell did Morocco win 3 to squat?

Just amazing how this one turned out.
"July 6 (Reuters) - European soccer body UEFA has lashed out at FIFA's decision to suspend U.S. striker Folarin Balogun's red-card ban in the World Cup, after U.S. President Donald Trump called FIFA to ask it to review the case, saying world soccer's governing body had "crossed a red line" and undermined the integrity of the game.
"We express our disbelief at such an unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable decision," UEFA said in a statement on Monday."

I want America to do well in this tournament but Trump getting involved to overturn a red card is simply WRONG. Politics should NEVER get involved with sports. It gives the impression that the whole thing is corruptjag wrote: ↑July 6th, 2026, 7:08 amJust amazing how this one turned out.

When you are the most powerful man in the world and you call say "Take another look at this incident" you get results. That is what power means not just people who talk big and get no results. The red card was not cancelled it was suspended. sane difference but more palatable words to describe "Yes sir whatever you want sir 3 bags full.'tacnet wrote: ↑July 6th, 2026, 2:47 pmI want America to do well in this tournament but Trump getting involved to overturn a red card is simply WRONG. Apparently the red card stands (because they can't simply overturn a VAR decision) but they have suspended his one match ban for up to a year. So he can miss any match he chooses anytime in the next year !!!TheButcher wrote: ↑July 6th, 2026, 5:16 pmWhen you are the most powerful man in the world and you call say "Take another look at this incident" you get results. Imagine what the outcry is going to be if Folarin Balogun scores the winning goal ???
I want America to go through but this is just more blatant corruption from Trump and it brings the whole tournament into question

I'm not saying I agree with the whole thing but fact is big countries get what they want, if some president or prime minister from some country with a million or even 10 million population made that call they would not even think about considering it. When you are the only super power in the world people do as you want. Think of the Monroe doctrine, the US will not allow any foreign power to get in roads, influence or military bases in the western hemisphere. It is a fact of life when you are big what you say goes or you take action.
I have a feeling if the US team wins tonight against Belgium there is a good chance they might go to the finals, I really liked their play in this World Cup competition.

That's not how it's supposed to be. The world cup is about what happens on the pitch and NOTHING elseTheButcher wrote: ↑July 6th, 2026, 6:48 pmtacnet wrote: ↑July 6th, 2026, 6:11 pmApparently the red card stands (because they can't simply overturn a VAR decision) but they have suspended his one match ban for up to a year. UEFA, European football's governing body, has strongly condemned this decision calling it "unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable".
Uefa said that an automatic suspension of one match "is not a discretionary option" and it is "a principle embedded in regulations".
"When the certainty of rules is no longer guaranteed by its guardians, the integrity of the game is at stake and the credibility of a competition is undermined," Uefa said in a statement.
"Equally, such a decision creates a precedent in the ongoing tournament, where similar situations will now require an equal treatment, to the detriment of the competition.
"We express our disbelief at such an unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable decision."
Im still cheering for the USA

As I said I do not agree with what happened but the reality is Trump got his way that's how he rolls.
