People will buy the gas version of the same car over the electric one

A tale of 2 Chargers, the gas and electric ones. Electric cars sell when there are huge incentives and tax breaks not because people want to buy them, my 1 cent.

2 paragraphs from carscoops.com on the Dodge Charger.

"The contrast couldn’t be much sharper. Through the first half of 2026, Dodge has sold 4,583 gasoline Chargers, a massive 181 percent increase over the 1,630 delivered during the same period last year. The second quarter alone was even more dramatic, with sales rocketing 404 percent from 578 cars to 2,911."

"Meanwhile, the Charger Daytona EV, which is getting a heap more expensive for MY27, is heading firmly in the opposite direction. Dodge delivered just 534 electric Chargers during the first six months of the year, down 88 percent from 4,299 in 2025. The second quarter was equally grim, with only 294 finding homes compared with 2,352 a year ago, another 88 percent plunge."

That's in America where Trump is trying to drag the country back to petrol driven cars. Globally, EV sales are expected to reach nearly 30% in 2026 (up from 25% in 2025). That's 1 in every 3 cars sold in 2026 will be an EV - https://www.iea.org/news/close-to-30-of ... rgy-crisis

One way or another this HAS to happen. We can't carry on burning more and more fossil fuels simply because we don't want to change. Just look at the extreme heat waves we are seeing right now in Europe and America. Every year is hotter than the last and pretty soon, that's going to start affecting where we can grow our food and where we can live.

Can we at least agree that EV's do not need to have some simulated fake ICE exhaust sounds pumped through the speakers. When the horse and buggy went away cars did not simulate some horse sounds and step of hooves on roads. The other thing what's with the fake gear changes some EV's are now adding to their speakers. And finally why does every EV have to copy the flush door handles of a Tesla and huge touch screen in the middle of the dash.

End of rant.

Ok I hear you

BUT
there is a reason that EVs make a car sound out of their speakers. In fact, there's talk of it being mandatory in some places. It's because deaf people cant hear them coming otherwise. There's been a spate of accidents involving EVs where deaf people walk out straight in front of them

I will admit that they need to stop trying to change the overall look of the car just because it's an EV. Just take the current design that people are happy with and stick an electric motor in it

If I wanted an electric vehicle I would get the industry bench mark, a Tesla.

EVs are a LOT cheaper to run than gas powered cars. Think how much you spend on gasoline every year and you could probably run 2 or 3 EVs for that price.

You can even go a step further and fit solar panels on your roof (as I have) and you get to drive around for FREE !

so destroy earth and musk flies everybody to a new planet? not to mention all the toxic battery fires. It sounds ok until you actually do it. is why musk downgraded his shit.

• Lack of Home Charging: Relying on public DC fast chargers is slow, inconvenient, and expensive—sometimes costing as much per mile as gas. Without a Level 2 charger at your residence, ownership is a major hassle.
• High Depreciation: New EVs often suffer from brutal depreciation. Rapid advancements in battery technology and sudden price cuts can quickly erode the resale value of a recently purchased EV.
• Road Trip Limitations: If you frequently take long road trips, dealing with charging curves, broken stations, and waiting 30+ minutes to "fill up" adds significant time and stress to your travel.
• Higher Upfront Costs: Despite recent tax credits, new EVs generally have a higher initial purchase price than their internal combustion engine (ICE) equivalents.

Several large-scale electric vehicle (EV) models and programs have been discontinued or shut down in recent years, largely due to shifting consumer demand, manufacturing costs.
The most notable models and programs that have been recently discontinued include:

• Ford F-150 Lightning: Ford officially discontinued the all-electric version of its full-size pickup truck, shifting focus to plug-in hybrid powertrains.

• Tesla Model S and Model X: Tesla ended production on its pioneering, higher-end flagship sedan and SUV models.

• Chevrolet BrightDrop Vans: General Motors folded its standalone BrightDrop commercial electric van brand into Chevrolet, and then subsequently canceled the van program itself due to low sales.

• Honda 0 Series EVs: Honda abruptly canceled the development of three major EVs (the 0 Series SUV, 0 Series Saloon, and Acura RSX EV) that were slated for US production.

• Hyundai and Kia Compacts: Hyundai discontinued the standard US-built Ioniq 6 sedan and paused imports for the Kona Electric, while Kia dropped the US version of its Niro EV.

• Nissan Ariya: Nissan discontinued its Ariya electric crossover in the US market
.

This is all in the US because of Trump. Globally EV sales are going UP to around 30% last year, up from 25% the year before. That's nearly 1 in 3 of ALL new cars sold is an EV

Whether you like them or not, EVs are coming. Whether its in the next 5 years, 10 years or whatever, EVs are coming. Its the only way to fight climate change and they are FAR FAR cheaper to run than ICE cars.

EV models are being withdrawn in the US because Trump is doing everything he can stop renewable energy in the US. But guess what ????, Trump's war in Iran has accelerated the process. Countries all over the world are ramping up their EV rollout so as not to have their economies held to ransom by the supply of oil

Sales of EVs globally are rising fast
