I suspect the pause has a lot to do with the insurance companies not going for it. Who wants to insure a ship through the strait of Hormuz when they KNOW it will be attacked ??

Also, notice how Trump said 'guide' and not 'escort' the ships ???. Escorting means you protect the ships with military force and that would mean that the war would have exceeded the 60 day limit and Trump would have to get congressional approval. Guiding the ships means just showing them the way and if they get attacked, well that's their problem. The insurance companies won't go for that

Trump is flying to Beijing on May 13 till 15, 2026 so nothing will happen until he comes back, he is not going to cause more friction with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
