Why is oil still at $99 after president Trump extended the cease fire yesterday?

There appears to be blatant insider trading going on relating to oil prices from within the White House

"Cailian Press, April 23 (Editor: Bian Chun) — Just 15 minutes before U.S. President Trump announced on Tuesday that he would extend the ceasefire agreement with Iran, traders placed a series of bets on falling oil prices, with short positions totaling $430 million."

"This marks the third time this month—and the fourth time overall—that large-scale, precisely timed directional bets on oil prices have emerged in the market just before major news about a war in Iran is released. In March, these bets totaled $500 million, while in April multiple such positions added up to roughly $2.1 billion."

Because a ceasefire doesn't open up the straits of Hormuz and it doesn't really change the situation whereby Iran has realized it has a weapon far more consequential than any nuclear bomb. Their control over the straits means they have control over the global economy and even if the war ended tomorrow, they can still press that button and bring it to a grinding halt again.

I hate to say it but there's only one real solution to this problem and that is to avoid the straits of Hormuz altogether.......and that means building pipelines. Saudi's pipeline can handle 5 - 7 million barrels a day but that still leaves around 15 million barrels a day that needs to be piped out of that region.

I wouldn't count on oil prices coming back down anytime soon because this could take years to build all that infrastructure

In the middle of an energy crisis, with oil prices through the roof and demands for electricity sky rocketing due to new AI infrastructure, most of the world is scrambling to reduce its dependency on gas and oil and move over to renewable energy. However, Trump just did the complete opposite and paid $1 Billion to a French company to stop them building an off-shore wind farm

"Trump administration will pay a French company $1 billion in taxpayer funds to not build wind farms "

Trump must know he can't go into a mid term election with oil prices this high ???

Even if the war ends tomorrow, its going to take months to clear the backlog and rebuild all the infrastructure they've destroyed. There's an old saying that oil prices go up like a rocket but come down like a feather
