"The Pentagon has approached major U.S. automakers, including Ford and General Motors, about helping to expand America’s military supplies, marking the first time since World War II that large manufacturers have been asked to contribute directly to the country's munition stock.

Discussions have been held among senior defense officials and the chief executive officers of General Motors and Ford Motor, people familiar the conversations have said, according to The Wall Street Journal, as the Trump administration looks to boost production of military equipment as the conflicts in both Ukraine and Iran have drained stocks.

Both Ford and General Motors are well known for their contributions to the American war effort during World War II, building aircraft, transportation vehicles, engines and various other necessary parts used in military equipment.

Defense officials have framed the request to automakers as a matter of national security, the Journal reported. Discussions remain preliminary, according to the newspaper, and no official contracts have yet been announced."

This seems to be inline with the way Europe is thinking too. Most European officials are suggesting that they need to be ready for war by 2027/28 as by then, Russia will have rebuilt its forces and with Trump in the White House (and unlikely to come to the support of NATO), they might see that as the perfect opportunity to roll forward into eastern Europe. That would also be a catalyst for China to make a move on Taiwan with NATO tied down in a European war

Personally I think WW3 will be more about cyber than about nuclear bombs and militaries fighting each other etc. Countries know that militarily the USA would always win but with cyber, that's a whole different ball game

Trump could have stopped an up coming war by helping Ukraine push Russia back instead of cozying up to Putin. That would have stopped Russia in their tracks and without the distraction of a European war, it's unlikely that China would make a move towards Taiwan

The key to preventing WW3 has always been NATO but Trump has all but destroyed it. Without a strong NATO, WW3 is much more likely

I hope not but I have a feeling Trump needs to convince Netanyahu to let him end this war before it goes nuclear. I read Trump asked for the nuclear codes over the weekend and the General chief of staff vetoed nuking Iran. Not sue how true that story is but it's been floating around on some news sites.
