The server staying up for sure is something your host has to be on top of, if they have a good bandwidth, lots of peering and connection to exchange points can help on the host side, but I think a big part of your site running fast is how its built. A host that could give you pointers on optimizing that would be one hell of a host!

I have the answer for you. Do a 3 year lease on any new car. put a few bucks down or zero down, have the factory warranty , turn it in every 3 years and never have expenses.
Now I want myself a new Vette, no way I can afford one, but I drive a Cruze RS not the same thing but a nice car with great gas mileage, come 8 months this will be my 2nd Cruze that I leased and turn in. I had an no repair costs, catch my drift?

hahahaha thats a good question. If I could sum it up in 1 word it would have to be "knowledgeable" or maybe even "understanding" or a synonym of that. Sometimes clients have issues and they ask us to fix it, granted sometimes its our fault and with reason they are upset, and I'm not talking about someone with managed services. but a lot of the time its issues with their site, the way its made the way they run it, maybe even them putting too much stuff on a cheapo-depo vps that can't handle the load and expecting it to run like a Xeon E5 dedicated server. Then when we as the host try to explain this to the client they flip, they dont get it they have no idea what we are talking about and the IT guy they hire is also another Cheapo-Depo contract and doesn't really care about doing anything for the guys site. There is a lot of isssues that can just be out of the Hosts hands but people always blame the host.
There are those wonderful clients that know what cPanel is, that built their own sites and know very well what it needs to be hosted on to run well, they are knowledgeable of the Hosting environment and fully understand what to expect. They pay on-time and love to tell people who they are hosting with hahahah thats the dream client!
anyways... from a clients perspective what do you guys think? am I shooting for the moon?

Less time talking to a host about issues with the server means more time for me to work, that is it from my end.

that is understandable, but there are resources to read up on. if you are not paying managed services, you really shouldn't expect the host to work magic for you. Although a good host will do there best to help out regardless.chilli.domains wrote: ↑September 15th, 2018, 7:49 pmwhitelabelIT your reply is spot on as a host but not all newbs know the in and outs of cpanel, just saying.

Spot on. Going to the host with problems is usually my last resort. I find it to be beneficial to know what makes things tick and there's an abundance of resources out there. Plus I'm too cheap to spring for manged services. lol. I get frustrated (very frustrated) when healing with the host. Obviously when I contact them I'm already aggravated with the problem at hand and my inability to fix it. So when I get on live chat (my preference) and get someone asking basic questions, going thru obvious steps, hoops, etc and I have to repeat myself to get them to comprehend it's hard to keep my cool. It's not the poor saps fault that happened to be unlucky enough to catch my call and I usually make sure I thank them, wish them a wonderful rest of the day and apologize if I feel that's in order.WhitelabelIT wrote: ↑September 18th, 2018, 10:45 amthat is understandable, but there are resources to read up on. if you are not paying managed services, you really shouldn't expect the host to work magic for you.
