Yeah, pretty much every host is WP friendly. The only thing that I can think of that a host would have to be a benefit with WP is a one click install for newbs and people that don't feel like dealing with FTP.
Probably just marketing. It's nothing to do with optimizing the servers for just WP any more than just having a normal LAMP setup.

WP is not resource intensive, the theme, plugins might be your main problem. Disable al plugins and use the latest theme see if that speeds up your load time.

Some hosts claim to have fast servers for wp, it seems redundant because any good server can load a site up fast.

Not all hosts are equal. I have experienced good and bad ones. WP is not the problem, it is the host and what equipment they are using.

I would have to agree here, remember servers are computers, you cant compare an intel Core 2 Quad processor Q9300 from 2008 with a 2017 intel i7 hahaha so yeah the equipment the host uses I think can definitely affect the services provided.

This is so true. One time I had 2 plugins acting up on one of my blogs, I dumped them and it went back to normal. You have to know what plugins are good and what are not good for the site, don;t go add all plugins that you do not need.
