Graceful reboot or Forced reboot of a server

My host told me when the load is very high on my server I should do a reboot, there are 2 options in CPanel. Graceful and Forced, what is the difference and which one do you suggest.

Graceful will do the job most of the time

Always do a graceful reboot so processes shut down, with a full forced reboot think of it as turning off the power, you might lose data.

I never reboot my server my host takes care of it

I restart apache and the sql server when the site gets hit by bots, never done a hard restart, I have done graceful restarts.

I shut down and restart my laptop once a couple of weeks, it speeds it up, I wonder if that is true with linux servers

When there are updates I get an email form CPanel asking me to restart the server and it is always a 'Graceful reboot'
