He realized tariffs are hurting ordinary Americans.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/trump- ... rcna244045

"President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order exempting a range of food imports — including coffee, beef and bananas — from his reciprocal tariff policies.

The White House said the president had "determined that certain agricultural products shall no longer be subject to the reciprocal tariffs." Among the items being exempted are coffee, tea, tropical fruits, fruit juices, cocoa, oranges and tomatoes, the White House said. "

No surprise tariffs increase costs for consumers, bad decision to put them in the first place.

This is exactly why Congress is supposed to levy tariffs and NOT the president.

Exactly. And this is what the supreme court is ruling on right now. Whether any of these tariffs are legal because only Congress has the power to implement taxes

Remember when Trump first tariffed Mexico ?? He said it was to address the "national emergency" with Fentanyl and Immigration and under the IEEPA act, the president can implement tariffs in a national emergency. When he got away with that, he tried the same thing on Canada (even though less than 1% of fentanyl and hardly any migrants come in via Canada). When he got away with that he just went nuts slapping tariffs on anybody and everybody. One day the tariffs are on, then they are off and then they are back on again. He even tariffed Brazil because they are prosecuting his buddy Bolsonaro (ex president of Brazil) or slapping tariffs on Canada because of a bloody TV add !!!

He's given up all pretense of there being a "national emergency". And all the while Mike Johnson sits like a smacked puppy ready to do anything Trump wants.

This is NOT what the founding fathers had in mind

Correction boters = voters.

I get the feeling he has a very short fuse and if a tiny little thing upsets his ego he goes off the deep end tariffs that country. Might be my wrong impression but that is how I see him.

Ruling by Executive Orders is not the way the founding fathers meant the USA to function. They envisioned three separate and equal branches of government. Someone should remind the president of this minor detail :)
