Why is Avast giving the warning it must be based on some suspicion or fact

I dont use Avast but a lot of anti virus packages will block a site if the SSL certificate is out of date. Norton does this all the time

Who runs a website without an SSL certificate or outdated one that's insane, Google will not list the site.

Any advantage of one over the other, asking as a long time Avast user.

Best to have both. Ive seen a lot of sites die a death over the years because one or other system has blocked their site and the webmaster can't see it because they are using the other anti-virus package

Also host as much as you can on your own servers. Dont trust your sites reputation to some add server because if they get blocked, you get blocked

Can you run both at the same time on the same laptop?

Not sure. Ive got Avast running on my mail server, Norton on my laptop and McAfee on another system

Just the other week I found one of our big affiliates was being blocked by Norton but fine on the other two. I pointed it out to him and he was extremely grateful as he would never have spotted it. Turns out it was because of some JavaScript he was loading from another site that Norton had blocked
